Washing Machine Not Draining — Fault Guide
A practical guide from Go Assist Bournemouth engineers.
Why is my washing machine not draining?
If water remains in the drum after a cycle, the drain filter is almost certainly blocked. Locate the filter (usually bottom-right behind a small panel), place a towel down, then slowly unscrew and clear any debris. If the filter is clear, the pump or control board may be at fault and will need an engineer.
Should you try to repair this yourself?
Basic checks — like cleaning a filter or checking the clock timer — are safe to do yourself. However, repairs involving electrical components, gas connections, motors or sealed systems should always be carried out by a qualified engineer. Attempting these repairs yourself may void your appliance warranty and could be dangerous.
