Cooker Oven Not Working — Fault Guide
A practical guide from Go Assist Bournemouth engineers.
Why has my cooker oven stopped working?
On a freestanding cooker, the oven section may have a failed element, a blown thermal fuse, or a faulty clock/timer that has locked the oven. Check whether the oven clock is in manual mode — many cookers require the clock to be set before the oven will operate. For gas cooker faults, only use a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Should you try to repair this yourself?
Basic checks — like cleaning a filter or checking the clock timer — are safe to do yourself. However, repairs involving electrical components, gas connections, motors or sealed systems should always be carried out by a qualified engineer. Attempting these repairs yourself may void your appliance warranty and could be dangerous.
